Single column forms prevent users from getting distracted, therefore increasing conversions.

Multi-step Forms

When you have numerous questions, then you must opt for multi-step forms. And make sure there is a process head to let the users know about the progress as they fill the form.

The shorter the form, it is good.

Use sliders when there are large ranges to choose from. Users can use a slider to choose the range.


When users have to choose an option, steppers can help to decide the range. For instance, in booking apps for hotels or flights, this feature helps to book a room or flight for a limited count of people.


These are needed when there are limited and mutual choices.

  1. Field labels and masks

These help to lower errors and reduce efforts.  By showing the right formats, like display of credit card for the number, you can lower errors and make filling up form easier.

Field masks are suggested to be visible as fast as the user starts filling up a form.  It won't be effective if you make it available gradually, when the user is yet wondering how to insert the input.

Do not use placeholder text. They appear pre-filled and users may skip this part of the form.

Field labels

They are essential for describing the reason for input controls. There are various field levels. Designers must first think about deciding the place of labels before considering about the controls.

Floating labels must be made with use JavaScript or CSS.
